UK focus for major Sri Lanka tourism promo featuring London Underground and iconic black cabs

London’s iconic black-cab taxis and Underground train stations will feature in a major Sri Lanka tourism promotion effort next year.

TTG reports that highlights will be “a series of roadshows in 2018 throughout the UK as well as attending all major trade shows and embarking on a digital campaign”.

At the recent WTM London, the government tourism agency stressed ‘out of the ordinary’ experiences, including rural, adventure, culture and heritage tourism, safaris, weddings and honeymoons.

For the new marketing push, Sri Lanka Tourism is planning a series of roadshows in 2018 throughout the UK as well as attending all major trade shows and embarking on a digital campaign.

Says Chameera Peiris, SLT’s UK/US assistant director: “We are embarking on another London Underground campaign in 10 premium stations to highlight the diversity the destination offers. That will continue until February 2018 to cover the UK holiday booking window.”

A key focus will be big-name hotel openings this year and next, including Shangri-La’s One Galle Face development in Colombo and Wild Coast Tented Lodges, a development by Resplendent Ceylon.
