A group of young adventurers from Egypt have arrived in Sri Lanka for an action-packed holiday of watersports, canyoning and nature trekking in the Hill Country.
The 25 girls and boys, together with their tour leader, were welcomed at Bandaranaike International Airport by Pledge Holidays manager Shalindra Henegenage and senior tour executive Lahiru Rasitha.
Their nine-day adventure holiday began with a quick tour of capital Colombo, dinner at one of the city’s many outstanding restaurants, and their first night at a hotel overlooking the Indian Ocean.
From there for a day at the east-coast resort of Pasikuda, with its renowned beach and water-sport opportunities, and time to look forward to the next-day’s visit to Minneriya National Wildlife Park.
Thereafter a full program of activities, including climbing the famed Sigiriya Rock Fortress, visits to Nuwara Eliya and Devon Falls, and on to an adventure camp site for two days of white-water rafting, abseiling, rock-climbing and outdoor barbeques.
Safari camps are located mostly along the boundaries of national parks, and specialise in the full ‘pack in-pack out’ tented safari-camp experience with custom-made jeeps and accompanied by a professional naturalist.
