Sri Lanka ‘tops for mothers-to-be wanting a babymoon break in an exotic beach location’
Babymoons in exotic locations including Sri Lanka are a major travel incentive for almost all expectant mothers, according to the Times of India.

The Times notes that a major survey by a UK travel company found that 82 percent of mothers-to-be “said that they wish to go on a babymoon, with the most preferred time being the second trimester”.
Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Thailand and UAE and top the list of preferred international destinations, with Goa, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Kerala being favourites in India.
Says the survey: “About 72% of the new mothers had opted for a babymoon during their pregnancy. ‘Relaxation’ being the primary reason for women to take a babymoon, they feel it offers a great window to have a child-free getaway.”
“Given a choice, 65% of women wish to take an international babymoon trip. The would-be mothers are quite clear about who they want to accompany with 77% of them wanting to go with their husbands only and not the entire family,” the survey added.
When it came to destinations, beaches were the most preferred (88%) as it offered leisure beach walks and scenic views.
A good 97% of the respondents said they disapproved adventure trips and a majority of the pregnant travellers choose custom-made tours over group tours.
