Four of Sri Lanka’s top hotels are featured in the recently published CONDÉ NAST Traveler’s prestigious Travel Awards 2017 Hot List.
Of the four, Anantara gets a special mention: “Its secluded stretch of beach on the southernmost coast of Sri Lanka is just one of the smart draws of this 152-room resort, where the sound of the ocean is louder than patrons’ chatter.
“The respect for Ceylonese traditions involves a traditional high-tea served with single estate brews from the highlands, and generous accompaniments of expected scones and artisanal jams.
“You’d be wise to stay in one of the pool villas, which have wine humidors, butler pantries, and bicycles to use for as long as you’d like.
“An ancient therapy-based spa treatment followed by an extra chilled superfood wellness juice is just the antidote for heat-searing days. Editor’s Pick: Hot List 2017”
Says Condé Nast: “The day after we put last year’s Hot List to bed, we began casting a net for this year’s favorites. We flew a collective 529,500 miles, sausaged in coach, slept in roughly 200 beds, and had passports stamped in more than 50 countries between our team of 60 reporters, editors, and photographers.
“And yes, we had our share of knock-down, drag-out debates that got us from the 675 contenders we started with to the 75 you see before you—only 11 percent of all those properties we bunkered down in made this list this year, making it our most selective ever.”
