Embrace the new holiday trend! Try picture-perfect Sri Lanka for your babymoon!
The ‘babymoon’ is what comes after the honeymoon, those precious few months before joyful expectation collides head-on with exhaustion, weight gain, and fractious fathers.
They’ve even made a film about it (see below)—The Babymoon—in which a husband tries to impress his pregnant wife with a vacation to the most exotic, Instagram-worthy country on the planet.
Big mistake. He chose the wrong country. The lesson learned being that the not-so-happy couple should have come to Sri Lanka, our magical and mysterious tropical Paradise tailor-made for romance!
Which is also the opinion of the Economic Times of India in a piece highlighting the lure of Lanka for mothers and fathers-to-be as they ready themselves for life after baby.
It notes: “Don’t let the D-Day stress take a toll on your health. Get set for a mental reset in the land of serene beauty, Sri Lanka.
“Full of ravishing green landscapes, charming traditional buildings and golden beaches,Srilanka, an island country is packed with breathtaking views.
“The exotic tropical gardens can be an ideal getaway for those who want to experience a relaxed and a composed babymoon.”
There’s even a Wikipedia entry: “Babymoons are often taken in luxurious locations, as the babymoon is seen as the last vacation that the couple will have alone until their child leaves home when they reach legal age.”
And says the Urban Dictionary: “Babymoon. Mandatory vacation for both parents before the live birth of a child. Maybe a weekend, maybe a week.
“Requires the male end of conception to pay for all expenses out of his pocket. Travel, lodging, preferably at a seaside hotel, and gifts (to the mother to be, not the baby,) are an absolute necessity. Eases away the stress and woe of pregnancy.”
