Cricket, tea and cinnamon: Australia gets the lowdown on what makes Sri Lanka so special!
The Travel Weekly magazine and website in Australia is highlighting a series of major roadshows by Sri Lanka Tourism to engage with travel agents, tour operators and media.
The website notes that Sri Lanka is famed world-wide for our world-class hotels, UNESCO World Heritage sites, rich bio-diversity, tropical beaches and adventurous experiences.
And it includes seven facts about us that the world is apparently still unaware of, including: we produce nearly all the planet’s cinnamon, we love cricket, and there are lots of tea plantations. Who knew?
But back to the roadshows, which are scheduled for 20 November in Perth, 23 November in Melbourne and 27 November in Sydney.
Says Director of Marketing Madubhani Perera: “We are very excited to increase our promotional efforts in Australia and engage the Australian travel industry to help demonstrate to consumers the wonders of Sri Lanka.
Adds Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Udaya Nanayakkara: “Sri Lanka Tourism engaged in a similar promotion last year in Australia and with the introduction of direct daily flights by SriLankan Airlines to Melbourne this year, we need our presence with the travel trade on a continuous basis.”
