Cinnamon Lodge Habarana lauded as ‘the best family resort in Sri Lanka’ at World Travel Awards ceremony
Cinnamon Lodge Habarana won the World Travel Awards accolade for being the best family resort in Sri Lanka at the Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony earlier this month.
This 5-star pleasure palace was built on a replica of the foundations of the nearby Ritigala ruins, an ancient seat-of-kings turned Buddhist monastery.
And says the Daily Mirror: “The resort brings the original concept of a royal retreat to the 21st century, with luxurious private cottages and suites all fitted with ultra-modern amenities.”
The resort’s 37 acres have also been restored to their natural splendor, with 2,000 trees providing a sanctuary for more 138 species of exotic birds.
Pathways and trails meander through wide open spaces and quiet shady spots, shared with the occasional tree-house.
Meanwhile, “being Green Globe-certified … ensures that guests can expect nothing but the finest service and environmentally-friendly practices at the hotel”.
Says the Mirror: “Each year, WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective success within each key geographical region.
“WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.
“The brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.”
